NZ embassy in Jakarta helps family of woman who died in Bali

The New Zealand embassy in Jakarta is providing assistance to the family of Abby Hartley after she died on Sunday.

Mrs Hartley has died while on holiday in Bali.

She had been in a coma for almost a month after suffering a twisted bowel and contracting a blood infection in Bali.

Her travel insurance company refused to pay for her care.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says the Embassy in Indonesia has been working with the family, but won't pay for her repatriation.

A Givealittle fundraising page raised almost $240,000 to help cover Mrs Hartley's hospital bills.
