Ronda Rousey Considered Suicide After Loss, But One Thing Stopped Her

After her devastating loss to Holly Holm back in November, Ronda Rousey has since come forward to say that she contemplated suicide. Luckily, she didn’t do anything rash and has since come forward to explain why she ruled out the thought completely.
Now, most of us remember Rousey’s upset loss during the UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia to challenger Holly Holm, but no one took the outcome harder than the former UFC Champion herself. As it turns out, things got so bad for her that she actually contemplated suicide for a short time.
While appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently, Rousey spoke openly about her loss and what it did to her. “Honestly, my thought in the medical room, I was sitting in the corner and was like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?'” Rousey said. “Literally sitting there thinking about killing myself. In that exact second, I’m like, ‘I’m nothing. What do I do anymore? No one gives a s— about me anymore without this.'”
Luckily, she didn’t do anything to act on those thoughts, and her relationship with UFC heavyweight Travis Browne was what ultimately got her through the moment. “I looked up and saw my man, Travis, was standing there,” Rousey said. “I’m looking up at him and was just like, ‘I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive.'”

Although when that’s going to happen is still up in the air, Rousey states that she’s determined to get back on her feet. She hopes to reenter the octagon this November in a rematch against Holm. Hoping to take back the belt she believes is rightfully hers, Rousey also notes that she’s done a lot of reflection on what actually happened.
In her own words, she explained:
“I did a lot of thinking on, why did this happen? I do believe all the best things come from the worst things. The worst things result in the absolute best things. I was trying to think, what is the reason for this and what my actual purpose is — and maybe just winning all the time isn’t what’s best for everybody.
“I felt like maybe my role is, everyone has their moment of picking themselves off the floor. I’ve gone through several of mine, but no one had ever seen me go through it. Maybe I just needed to be that example of picking myself off the floor for everyone. Maybe that’s what I’m meant for. I really do believe I’m still undefeated because being undefeated is a choice. Everybody has losses in their life, but I choose to always be undefeated.”
There’s quite a bit of haters out there when it comes to Rousey, and they wanted her to be knocked down a peg. In short, that’s essentially what Rousey eventually went on to say. Now, all she has to do is pick herself up and get back at it if she wants what’s hers. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to be the person standing between her and her goals.
