A mysterious fireball was seen emerging from the sky in
Bangkok, Thailand that sent everyone nearby into a panic. Luckily, the
rest of the world was able to witness the unique occurrence after
several dash-cam videos surfaced.
The unidentified fireball was initially mistaken as a plane
crash by Bangkok authorities, who dispatched rescue workers to locate
the wreckage but none was found. Although astronomers and officials are
debating over the object, the actual origin of the light remains a
mystery. There has been no official confirmation of what caused the
fireball, according to ABC.
The mystery can be seen below at about the 30 second mark:
The film shows a flaming bright ball flying across the sky, appearing to look like a shooting star or meteor.
Deputy director of the National Astronomical Research
Institute of Thailand Saran Poshyachina explained, “While the
shooting-star-like spectacle could have been a meteorite, it could also
have been space junk falling from the sky,” according to Time.
“The photo of the white smoke that has been shared a lot is
in fact the train of smoke of a meteor,” Worawit Tanwutthibundit, an
astronomer stationed at Chachoengsao Observatory confirmed, according to
Time. “This is a normal phenomenon.” He insists that the public shouldn’t be concerned with the rare sighting.
The unidentified object as it emerges from the sky
It’s a bit unnerving knowing that an unidentified object has been seen crashing down to earth and no one can confirm what it is or its whereabouts. Either way, it has all of our attention – now we just need to wait for answers.
