Boy Injured During Car Wreck, What Firefighter Does Next Has Photo Going Viral

Being in a car accident can be a nerve-wracking thing, but for one boy, his experience is going viral. After being tended to by first responders while they waited for transport, one firefighter decided to lay down next to the scared boy and proceeded to do something astounding.
Taking place on a road somewhere in D’Iberville, Mississippi, medical professionals were called to the scene of a car accident that appears to have been rather severe. However, once they arrived, they were left in shock to see that out of the 6 passengers in the car, five of them – all children – had been ejected during the rollover chaos.
As some of the children were being taken to the hospital with one still in their child-restraint seat, another of the small children, this one a boy, had been strapped to a board and secured in order to make sure he could not move and further hurt himself. As one would imagine, this frightened the boy quite a bit, but his fear was short-lived.
Without a second thought, firefighter Casey Lessard laid down beside the boy when a few photos were taken that have since gone viral. According to reports, Lessard whipped out his cell phone and began playing the animated children’s film Happy Feet.
Lessard’s boss, Fire Captain Darren Peterson, further commented on the incident, saying, “The kids … we do whatever we can to calm them down. The video calmed him down instantly.”
Sounds like a job well done to me. There’s nothing more uplifting than hearing about those willing to go above and beyond, especially when no one asks them to. Even better yet, Mr. Lessard was responsible for making sure this boy’s experience wasn’t quite as traumatizing as it would have been without him – and that alone is worthy of recognition.
