Firefighters bring blaze at sports complex under control near Nelson

People have been evacuated from an indoor sports centre during a fire in Richmond, near Nelson.

Fire and Emergency said people were in the Action Indoor Sports Centre when the fire broke out but everyone managed to get out.

Seven fire engines and a command unit were used to bring the fire under control. Five five engines remain at the scene and are now dampening down hot spots.
