Charges laid in investigation of young American's death

Police investigating the death of a 22-year-old American in Christchurch in October have arrested a 37-year-old man on a number of drugs charges.

Lauren Biddle - a US citizen and champion polo player - was working in New Zealand when she died at a Sumner address.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of 22 October by a friend performing CPR on Ms Biddle, but she could not be revived.

The man is due to appear in Christchurch District Court this afternoon on charges of supplying a Class B controlled drug, impeding rescue, perverting the course of justice and cultivating cannabis.
