Watch: Orthodox synagogue vandalized in New York

Man filmed smashing glass on message board at Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Manhattan.

An Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Manhattan was vandalized earlier this week, when a man walking past the house of prayer smashed glass covering a synagogue message board.

The incident occurred at the Adereth El synagogue on East 29th Street, near Lexington Avenue, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Monday night.

Officials at the synagogue later found that the message board on the building’s exterior had been damaged.

Security camera footage of the incident shows two men walking past the synagogue, when all of the sudden one man approaches the building and slams his elbow into the glass case. The two then walk off, appearing to celebrate the suspect’s act of vandalism.

Synagogue officials filed a report with the New York Police Department, and an investigation has been opened into the incident.
