A man accused of murdering a woman in Matamata on Christmas Eve has been remanded in custody.
The forty-year-old appeared in the Hamilton District Court this morning.
He was remanded in custody without plea and will appear in the Hamilton High Court in February.
Emergency services were called to a rural house in the North Island town on Monday afternoon.
Police say a woman died at the scene and an injured baby airlifted to hospital is still in a critical condition.
