The suspect, Monday Dakalu, alongside the complainant, Temi Adewusi both planned to meet at a Guest House in Surulere for the first time since they became friends on Facebook.
It was gathered that the 31-year old Dakalu persuaded Adewusi into a room in the hotel where he locked her for several hours and forcefully had canal knowledge of her.
Adewusi, 25, claimed that the defendant took her phone to bar her from making calls for help.
She also claimed that after promising her to foot the bills for her coming to the hotel and going back to her residence in Ajah, the suspect beat her for requesting for the money.
The matter was reported at Itire Police Division where he was found culpable and charged for rape and unlawful possession of property at Isolo Magistrate’ court.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, did not oppose his being granted bail but asked the court for a date for hearing.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Teluwo, granted Dakalu bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he would be able to perfect the bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 7th January, 2019.
