Black Pink boasts most-viewed K-pop video of 2018

South Korean girl group Black Pink is behind the most-viewed K-pop video of 2018.

The group's music video for the single "Ddu-du Ddu-du" was viewed more than 552 million times on YouTube this year, according to The Korea Herald.

YouTube said 94 percent of the video's views came from outside South Korea, illustrating the growing popularity of K-pop worldwide.

Boy band BTS ranked No. 2, 3 and 4 with its videos for "Fake Love," "Mic Drop" remix and "Idol," respectively. Girl group Momoland took the fifth spot with its music video for "BBoom Bboom."

Forbes said "Ddu-du Ddu-du" reached 500 million views in November. The music video is the fifth most-viewed K-pop video of all time, trailing three videos from Psy and one from BTS.

The "Ddu-du Ddu-Du" video debuted alongside Black Pink's EP Square Up in June. It is the highest-charting hit from a K-pop girl group to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Black Pink released its debut Japanese album, Blackpink in Your Area, this month. The album includes the Japanese version of "Ddu-du Ddu-du" and other singles.
