The delivery is part of a nationwide vaccination campaign aimed at immunising 2.75 million vulnerable children in the country.
“The third UNICEF-chartered plane has arrived at Mitiga airport, Tripoli, completing the delivery of a total 4.7 million doses of Measles, Rubella and Polio vaccines, as well as 2.75 million doses of Vitamin A supplement, syringes and safety boxes,” UNICEF said in a statement on its website.
“The supplies are essential for the National Vaccination Campaign, which will be launched in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) by the end of November,” it added.
The campaign includes the immunisation of about 2.75 million children against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Libya suffers from a severe shortage of infant vaccines for newborns, two month-olds and six month-old babies.
