Johnny Depp admits to spending more than $30,000 on wine

"It was far more"

Johnny Depp has revealed the full extent of the extravagant spending which has landed him in such great debt. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the troubled actor admits to spending vast amounts of money on wine.

"It's insulting to say that I spent $30,000 on wine," says Depp. "Because it was far more."

He also claimed that on one occasion, in order to (ironically) alleviate the pain of having to sell his daughter's childhood home to pay off debt (which apparently then didn't happen), he then proceeded to drop "$108,000 on suits while on a trip to Singapore".

The actor famously spent millions shooting the ashes of his friend Hunter S Thompson out of a cannon - and he used this latest interview to clarify how much that really cost.

"By the way, it was not $3 million to shoot Hunter into the f------ sky," says Depp, "It was $5 million."

It's not the first time that Depp's spending has made headlines. Last year he was embroiled in a legal battle with his financial advisers, during which he blamed his former business managers for his money troubles after claiming they owed him $25 million for "gross mismanagement" of his funds.

Depp in turn was accused of living an overly flamboyant lifestyle, including spending $75 million on 14 homes, owning 45 luxury cars, a private jet and a yacht, and employing an entourage of 40 full-time personal staff, costing him $10 million a year.

"It's my money," Depp told The Wall Street Journal at the time. "If I want to buy 15,000 cotton balls a day, it's my thing."
