Anti-superhero movie
Suicide Squad is just months away from its premiere and it seems like
fans are expecting it be an epic film. The movie will introduce Deadshot
to the DC cinematic universe and Will Smith will play the iconic
villain.
The 47-year-old has revealed that playing a character who
has not yet been introduced in films is what made the experience "great"
for him.
"It's a character that hasn't really been explored in cinema," Smith told Coming Soon
and added that director David Ayer has the perfect cast to play the
famous bunch of infamous villains who are assigned to save the world.
"I get to design it and be a part of creating the first round of
Deadshot in the history of cinema... It's a really great opportunity to
work with a really great ensemble. It was perfectly cast. It's an insane
group of super actor villains," the In Pursuit of Happyness actor
added.
He explained that in order to play such a famous and
complex character he had to take a "deep dive over a six or seven month
period" and read all comic books back-to-back to get into the character
of the expert assassin.
"I wanted to do something like that with David Ayer, who is a
director that cares only about character. Every single aspect and
detail of the character playing into that gigantic box for me is what
makes this one really special," Smith said.
The movie will premiere on 5 August in the US. It will
narrate the story of a group of notorious villains who will be released
from prison cells and will be tasked to save the world from an unknown
yet supremely dangerous threat.
Apart from Deadshot, the Task Force X will also include Jared Leto as Joker,
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney
as Boomerang, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
as Killer Croc.
