Louis van Gaal does not have any fresh injury concerns ahead of Manchester United's
clash against title chasers Leicester City on Sunday (1 May) apart from
the quartet of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luke Shaw, Will Keane and Adnan
Januzaj, who missed their win over Everton in the semi-finals of the FA
Cup. The Foxes are a win away from securing the Premier League title and
will be gunning for victory at Old Trafford, but will have their task
cut out against the Red Devils.
The 20-time English champions are still in the running for a
place in the top four as they seek to qualify for next season's
Champions League. They are currently in the fifth place, five points
behind Arsenal in fourth, but have a game in hand over the Gunners,
which can help them close the gap to two points. Arsene Wenger's team
have to travel to the Etihad Stadium for a clash against Manchester City
on the penultimate weekend, which will be crucial for all three teams
involved in the race and could decide the final pecking order behind the
top two of Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur.
Wayne Rooney is likely to continue
in his midfield role for the visit of Claudio Ranieri's team, a
position he has become familiar with under Van Gaal. The Dutch manager
is not willing to replace Marcus Rashford, who has made the No 9 role
his own following his breakthrough into the first-team during their
Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland.
"Schweinsteiger, Luke Shaw and Will Keane are all still
sidelined due to their injuries. Adnan Januzaj has also been out of
action due to injury, while Andreas Pereira will hope for a recall to
the squad after not featuring for the Under-21s on Monday," a statement on United's official site reads.
