Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri said he is not worried about
Tottenham having the opportunity to close the gap between the two title
rivals to five points, after watching his side draw 2-2 draw
with West Ham for just a point on 17 April. Spurs take on Stoke City at
the Britannia Stadium on 18 April, and with only four games to go, need
a win to keep the pressure on league leaders Leicester.
"We are never worried," Ranieri said. "We were worried at the beginning of the season to achieve 40 points.
If
we fight and we win it's OK. If the other team – it can be Tottenham,
Arsenal, I don't know who – is better than us and win the title, well
done. Because we are doing the maximum.
"I always speak with the players about our performance, and
our performance was good. When we conceded the second goal my players
wanted to draw and it was unbelievable, fantastic, amazing.
"We showed this season everything is possible with the
Foxes. We never hide. This is more important than one point.
Psychologically it says, 'We are there.'"
Ranieri was keen to avoid criticising the referee after his
confrontation with Jamie Vardy, where he sent the striker off with a
second yellow card after a supposed dive.,He defended Vardy and insisted
he is not the sort of player to simulate falls. "He never dives. He's
always good," Ranieri said. "He's very fast and at this speed, if you
touch even a little then... But it's OK."
