(UPI) Furniture store Ikea has issued a safety notice, warning consumers of the "tip-over hazard" for chests and drawers.
The warning comes after a three separate incidents when children were crushed after Ikea's high-selling Malm drawer sets toppled over on them.
Two children were killed in 2014 and in February, the death
of a 22-month-old forced the company to issue the product warning,
affecting 27 million sets worldwide.
The U.S. Product Safety Commission is reviewing the case.
Ikea is not recalling the product, but has launched a safety
campaign that includes the warning and is offering free wall anchoring
kits.
"We urge customers to inspect their IKEA chests and dressers to ensure that they are securely anchored to the wall," the company said
in the warning. "Consumers should move unanchored chests and dressers
into storage or other areas where they cannot be accessed by children
until the chests and dressers are properly anchored to the wall."
Ikea is urging customers to get their free kits at www.ikea-usa.com/SecureItKits or call (888) 966-4532.
