Microsoft has released the beta version of its Skype
Messenger app for Windows 10 Mobile, which can be downloaded onto
devices running a preview build of the mobile OS. Here’s where you can
get your hands on it.
Previously Skype’s messaging and video functions were
integrated into a single app. Microsoft has decided to spin the
messenger out as a separate app that it intends as a replacement for
Window 10 Mobilie’s default SMS function. Much like iMessage, this move
will allow users to chat via Windows 10 PC and mobile devices
seamlessly. Skype Messaging is accompanied by the Skype Video app, which
was already available earlier.
Features for both apps, as show in the Windows Store include:
- Integrated conversation history between Skype messaging and SMS
- Integrated conversation history between Skype calls and phone calls
- Audio calling
- Video calling
- Messaging
- Emoticons
- Sign in with your Microsoft account
If you are running a Windows 10 Mobile preview build, you can download the new Skype beta apps, head over to Windows Store.
