Parents are outraged over a school curriculum that’s forcing
their children to not only learn biased material that propagates the
myth of peaceful Islam, but requiring students to repeat the Shahada,
the Islamic oath of conversion and rededication.
Brandee Porterfield was more than perturbed when her
daughter brought home a religious assignment from Spring Hill Middle
School in Tennessee. The project required students to write “Allah is
the only god; Mohammad is his prophet,” the same declaration that
Muslims recite in prayer and use to convert unbelievers to Islam.
Porterfield explained that not only was the assignment
against her daughter’s Christian faith, but that the school had
completely cut the study of Christianity from the class, the Columbia Daily Herald reports.
“I have a big problem with that,” Porterfield said. “From a historical point of view, that’s a lot of history these kids are missing. Also, for them to spend three weeks on Islam after having skipped Christianity, it seems to me they are making a choice about which religion to discuss.”
According to national statistics, over 70 percent of those surveyed identify as Christian, while less than 1 percent say they are Muslim.
“I have no problem with the teacher at all. It’s just that yellow foldable seems to be teaching our children religion in schools, and only that religion,” Porterfield said. “From a religion point of view, if the schools are going to be teaching religion in history, they need to teach them all equally.”
Still, not all the children are as susceptible to the
religious propaganda being taught in their classroom. A photo surfaced
of one of the students’ responses to having to write the Shahada. Above
the declaration, the child wrote “!Lie!” and reiterated that the Shahada
is “creed,” and not shared by their belief, according to EAG News.
The news site posted a picture of one of the assignments, on which a child had written that the Shahada is a “!Lie!”
“To me, a Christian child should not be made to write that,” said Joy Ellis, mother to one of the 7th grade students who was forced into the assignment. “I honestly don’t want my child learning about Islam at all, but if they’ve got to learn about it, I would like for them to learn about the historical aspects of it and definitely nothing about the religion … I don’t want her writing ‘Allah is the only god.’”
However, Maury County Public Schools middle school
supervisor Dr. Jan Hanvey assured that declaring allegiance to the god
of Islam is not religious, but somehow historical in nature.
“It’s part of history. If you don’t talk about it, then you are leaving out the ‘why,’” Hanvey said. “Children need to know the ‘why,’ and they need to be able to learn and know where to find the facts, instead of going by what they hear or what they see on the Internet.”
Hanvey, however, did not specify whether the children would learn about the 270 million non-Muslims slaughtered by Islamists throughout history, the hundreds of millions of slaves they’ve traded and still do, or the hundreds of 1,400-year-old verses in the Quran that command the slaughter, rape, and subjugation of unbelievers.
Instead, it’s obvious that the ignorant, apologetic school
district seeks to focus solely on the biased, un-Islamic side of Islam
that stereotypes Muslims as being peaceful victims.
This required assignment is not only a controversial aspect
of the curriculum, it blatantly forces students to go against their
religious beliefs. It infringes upon students’ First Amendment rights by
demanding they audibly or physically declare allegiance to another god.
Think this claim is a bit dramatic? Imagine if the
curriculum required Muslim students to write that Jesus is “King of
Kings and Lord of Lords,” in complete disagreement with Islamic
teaching. What about forcing Muslim children to ask Christ into their
hearts, in adherence with what the Christian majority believes? There
would most likely be rioting, threats, and a messy, expensive lawsuit.
The situation would vary likely become explosive.
It’s absolutely inexcusable that a middle school would seek
to educate children on a misinformed aspect of Islam while millions are
currently being exiled, raped, tortured, enslaved, and slaughtered by
the most devout followers.
But these practices are not confined to terrorist groups. Sharia law is established in over 50 countries.
From enforcing the death penalty for homosexuality, blasphemy, or
apostasy, to legalizing the beating, owning, or selling of women and
children, Sharia law is the standard by which all Muslims are commanded
to live under. Considering this statistic, to say that terrorists are
only a small percentage of Muslims is a lie.
Fortunately, the child who wrote the additional “!Lie!” on
their assignment proves that there are still those in future generations
who will stand against religious bigotry and Islamic propaganda.
However, schools are still falling victim to Islamization.
We must end this biased education of Islam for our young
people, lest we raise the next generation that apologizes when
terrorists attack their freedoms and lives.
