Connects to five devices for $100 without a contract
AT&T has announced its first plug-in vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, the ZTE
Mobley, which will go on sale this Friday for $100 will no annual
service commitment.
Chris Penrose, AT&T senior vice president for IoT, said the device
is aimed at professionals as well as families who hope to be connected
to the Internet while on the go.
AT&T and ZTE
worked together to develop the technology, which provides Wi-Fi
connectivity for up to five devices inside a car when plugged into an
on-board diagnostics port.
Mobley relies on a Qualcomm MDM9215 processor and connects to the AT&T 4G LTE network.
Customers can purchase the Mobley for $100 without an annual contract,
or for $0 with a two-year service agreement. Those two-year agreements
include the Mobile Share Value plan, which will increase by $10 a month
for the Mobley or the DataConnect plan, with a monthly charge starting
at $20 for 1GB of data.
