Tottenham Hotspur are facing a possible double bow in their chase for the Premier League title following their 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night (25 April). The stalemate against the Baggies has left the north London club seven points behind leaders Leicester City, who can create history and close out the league with victory over Manchester United on Sunday (1 May).
Spurs could be without Eric Dier and Dele Alli for their game against Chelsea on Monday (2 May) with the former suffering a knock during the clash against Tony Pulis' side, while the latter could be facing a retrospective ban for punching Claudio Yacob during the game.
The former Sporting Lisbon defender, who has been moved into midfield this season, was replaced by Ryan Mason in the 73rd minute after he suffered a knock while having a tussle with West Brom defender Craig Dawson as he scored the equaliser from a corner. Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the defensive midfielder, who has been a key member of the Spurs staring XI this season, was feeling dizzy, but hoped that it was nothing serious.
"I knew that he was dizzy but we hope it is not a big deal," the Argentine manager explained after the disappointing draw, as quoted by London24.com
Alli, meanwhile, according to ESPN FC, could be facing a prospective three-match ban after appearing to punch Yacob in his midriff following one of their many tussles during the game. The referee failed to spot the incident, but could face a retrospective ban if charged with violent conduct by the FA, which will bring the midfielder's season to a premature end. It will be a shame as he was handed the PFA's young player of the year award just before the game.
The duo's absence for the upcoming clashes will put a massive dent in their hopes of catching Leicester for the title, especially with a gap as big as seven points to make up in the final three games.
