‘The Voice’: Top 9 Revealed — Who Was Eliminated This Week? Live Blog

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another elimination on Season 10 of ‘The Voice.’ This week, one more contestant was sent home after last night’s incredible performances. So, who’s moving on to the Top 9? Read our full recap of the May 3 episode to find out!

Only nine singers remain after the May 3 episode of The Voice. Season 10 is really getting intense with so many talented contestants left, but either Christina Aguilera, Pharrell, Adam Levine or Blake Shelton has lost another artist on their team as the competition heats up. Keep up with everything that went down — including who was Instantly Saved by America — in our recap here!
The night begins with a guest performance from DNCE, who sings their brand new single “Toothbrush” and short bit of their first hit “Cake By The Ocean,” in a high energy performance that sets the tone for the night. Love this group!
After the coaches and contestants give a special shoutout to their moms in honor of the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday, it’s time to get to some results. Host Carson Daly announces that Christina’s artist Alisan Porter, a clear front runner throughout this whole season, is safe. No surprise there!
Next, it’s announced that Adam Wakefield from Team Blake and Shalyah Fearing from Team Adam are also safe, leaving Pharrell as the only coach without an artist in the Top 9 at this point.
But even though it’s not a great start to the night for his team, Pharrell has a major moment of pride as his former contestant — and the show’s Season 8 winner! — Sawyer Fredericks returns to The Voice stage for a performance. He sings his song “Four Pockets” and we love seeing him back here. SO much talent!
The fun doesn’t last forever, though, and it’s quickly time to get back to the results. Carson reveals that Pharrell’s contestant Hannah Huston is moving on, along with Blake’s adorable country cutie Mary Sarah. After a commercial break, Bryan Bautista (Team Christina), Laith Al-Saadi (Team Adam) and Paxton Ingram (Team Blake). That means Daniel Passino from Team Pharrell and Nick Hagelin from Team Christina, this season’s comeback artists, are left as the Bottom 2, and will have to perform again for America’s Instant Save vote.
Nick is up first and sings a stunning rendition of “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran that completely captivates the audience and has them cheering on their feet. But Daniel also gives a great last chance performance when he sings Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk,” and we just don’t know how to pick just one of them to save!
But it’s up to the popular vote on Twitter, and after a five minute window, Carson reveals that Nick is the guy who will be moving on to the Top 9, sending Daniel home.
Here’s where the teams stand after this week:
Christina: Alisan Porter, Bryan Bautista, Nick Hagelin
Pharrell: Hannah Huston
Adam: Shalyah Fearing, Laith Al-Saadi
Blake: Adam Wakefield, Mary Sarah, Paxton Ingram
That means Blake and Christina are headed into the Top 9 with all three of their finalists still in this thing, while Pharrell only has one contestant left to fight for that winning spot! Next week, one more will be eliminated after another round of sure-to-be amazing performances.
