Expect a new design with the OnePlus 3, and a launch date of a few months from now

Fresh details have emerged about the much anticipated
OnePlus 3 with a report claiming that the upcoming flagship could be
priced at 1999 yuan ($310). The price is indicative for the base
variant, as the flagship is expected to come in two variants.
The leak reported by GizmoChina
also has details about the two variants expected. There could be a
standard base model featuring Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of
storage, and a high-end variant with the same Snapdragon 820 but higher
RAM of 6GB and more internal storage of 64GB. The high-end variant is
expected to be pricier with expectations of it bearing a difference of
at least $40 - $60.
If the current leaked price turns out to be true, it will make the
yet unreleased OnePlus 3, a tad cheaper than the OnePlus 2 which was
launched at $329. The pricing and the specs make the phone a tough
competitor to its fellow Chinese brand Xiaomi's recently released Mi5.
As for the release date for the device,
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei stated in February that the company's
latest smartphone was expected to launch by the end of Q2 2016,
indicating it could hit the shelves by June. Some rumours also surfaced
about a May-end release for the device.
Like all OnePlus phones, the upcoming device is also slated to be
first available in limited numbers to only those possessing an invite.
Later the invite system will be discontinued and the device will be up
for sale to all.
The OnePlus 3 will be the company's fourth smartphone release
succeeding the OnePlus 2. The two other models are the company's maiden
release OnePlus One and a compact variant OnePlus X.
