Last year, Samsung had kicked up huge interest of users by launching its first portable SSD. This year, Samsung decided to take its portable SSD portfolio further by announcing a adorable portable SSD which packs 2TB of space.
Samsung’s new Portable SSD T3 is similar to the older T1 in more ways than one. It uses Samsung’s vertical NAND (V-NAND) memory and is capable of read/write speeds of up to 450 MB/s. The T3 is larger and little heavier than the T1, the T3 is still tiny enough to fit in your pocket.
Samsung said that the T3 will be available with either 250GB, 500GB, 1TB or a massive 2TB of storage.
The small, shock-resistant Portable SSD T3 will also support USB 3.1 and Type-C connections as well as the older USB 2.0 for connecting it to computers, smartphones, tablets etc. It will also allow users to protect their data with AES 256-bit hardware encryption by password-protecting the drive. Samsung will release an Android app which will let users monitor the space on the SSD as well as change passwords.
Samsung T3 will be launched next month in the US and some European markets, China and Korea before a worldwide release. The Samsung T3 will not come cheap. The 1TB version of Samsung’s T1 was roughly $600 at launch so you can expect this one to be in $800-$1000 range
